Mosquito bites and summer go hand in hand. While summertime conjures up happy thoughts, mosquito bites do not.
Do you know such bites from mosquitoes? The reality is, they aren’t really snacks at all – they’re stab wounds!
So What’s this stabbing concept? Mosquitoes have a long mouth piece called a proboscis which will actually saw (using a back and forth movement) into your skin. As soon as you’re adequately stabbed, then a few mosquito spit is invisibly into your skin to prevent blood clotting. Now this monster goes about mining for blood – moving that long proboscis out and in, to the left and right, up and down, searching for the ideal strand to suck from and fill her belly. (BTW, only female mosquitoes suck blood since they want the protein to procreate and make millions more blood suckers to torment you). When a vein is struck – bingo – she sucks to her content and flies away fat and happy. If not and the multiple tries sawing in and outside of your skin offer no benefit, she moves off empty handed but the gift was still left behind as she spat just as much saliva in you if she received nothing or even the mother lode.
So What is up with the saliva? Not only does the notion of some other creature spitting into your skin seem repulsive but here’s the real kicker – that spit is what you’ve got an allergic reaction to. The saliva injected into the human body is what triggers the mosquito ‘bite’. It isn’t a bite at all – it’s a puncture wound where a female kitty has spit into you. So if the thought of mosquitoes didn’t really bother you earlier, it certainly will now.
In Case You Have 6 itchy, irritating Mosquito bites right now, then 6 females have violated your skin. Perhaps they have been fed from your blood source, maybe not but their calling card is exactly the same – an itchy, annoying welt to remind you of how nasty parasites can be.
So what can you do to Prevent this nightmarish Scene? It is summer and mosquitoes are here with a vengeance – abundant rain, perfect temperatures, so a great deal of new diseases to spread across… which brings us to the clear point of why you want to call Opossum Poop. West Nile Virus is normal nowadays but did you know that Eastern Equine Encephalitis is about the upswing? And we constantly have spinal meningitis to be concerned about but now we also have Malaria, Dengue Fever as well as the Sleeping Sickness infiltrating the usa so beware!
Get Rid of standing water so they can not breed – principle Number One. Rule Number Two, use a repellent that is safe and effective. Do not drink the kool-aid that DEET and other substances are safe – that they aren’t. Use a product that is natural, food grade safe and has great customer service behind it.
This way you prevent these torturous human-stabbing creatures and can actually enjoy the summer. And that is a happy thought.
